Each Galaxy Bowl begins as a piece of steel, individually formed and finished by hand at Stronsay Forge in Orkney.

The bowl is decorated using my own Galaxy technique, combining heat-generated colours across the steel with brass fused into the centre. The resulting patterns, colours and textures are shaped by the heat and the behaviour of the metals, making every bowl different.

Deep blues, purples, bronze and gold tones can develop across the surface, surrounding the contrasting brass centre. No two bowls will ever have exactly the same finish.

Measuring approximately 100mm in diameter and 30mm deep, the Small Galaxy Bowl is a decorative piece suited to a shelf, desk or display cabinet.

Each bowl is finished with a protective clear lacquer to help preserve the colours and surface.

These bowls are intended for decorative use only and are not suitable for food or liquids.

As each Galaxy Bowl is individually made, the colours, patterns and appearance will vary from the photographs shown.

Made to order individually at Stronsay Forge in Orkney. Small variations are a natural part of the handmade process.

Care information

Galaxy Bowls are decorative pieces and are not intended for food use.

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust.

Avoid water, abrasive cleaners and polishing products, as these may damage the protective lacquer and heat-generated colours.

Keep indoors in a dry environment and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.

Each bowl's individual colours and finish are part of its character.
