A traditional hand-forged knife with a wooden handle, individually made at Stronsay Forge in Orkney.

The blade is forged and finished by hand, retaining traces of its original forge finish alongside the polished cutting edge.

The handle is constructed with wooden scales fitted to either side of the tang and secured with brass pins. The natural grain and colour of the timber give each knife its own individual character.

Measuring approximately 7 inches overall, this is a straightforward, traditional knife made using a combination of blacksmithing and woodworking techniques.

Each knife is supplied with a handmade, hand-stitched leather sheath, individually fitted to protect the blade.

Optional Personalisation

The blade can be personalised with up to six initials or runes, engraved by hand at Stronsay Forge at no additional cost.

As each knife is individually handmade using natural materials, slight variations in shape, dimensions and finish are to be expected.

Hand-forged steel blade with wooden handle scales fitted to either side of the tang and secured with brass pins.

Natural timber grain with a hand-finished surface.

Supplied with a handmade, hand-stitched leather sheath.

Blade and handle dimensions may vary slightly between individual knives.

Each knife is individually hand-forged and finished by hand.

Care information

Keep the blade clean and dry after use. Apply a thin coat of suitable oil periodically to help protect the steel against rust.

Clean by hand and dry thoroughly. Never leave the knife soaking in water or place it in a dishwasher.

Wipe the wooden handle with a soft cloth and avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or excessive heat. An occasional application of a suitable wood-finishing oil or wax can help maintain the handle.

Keep the leather sheath clean and dry. If it becomes wet, allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat.

For long-term storage, keep the knife in a dry environment, preferably outside its leather sheath.
